How to Be Happy Being You: 3 Tips to Create a Life You Love

Hello, I’m Vicky Lord, and I’m thrilled to share with you three powerful tips on how to create a life that lights you up and makes you genuinely happy being you. These tips are something I’ve come to embrace in my own life, and I believe they can help you on your own journey toward happiness and self-discovery.

A recent memory came to me while reflecting on the time I wrote my first book, How to Be Happy Being You. In the opening of that book, I tell the story of a woman who sets off on an adventure to find herself—leaving behind her well-cared-for family as she takes the time to nurture her own soul. It got me thinking: sometimes, we all need to embark on our own adventure to reconnect with who we really are and find out what makes us truly happy.

If you’ve ever felt like you need to find more of yourself, or that something big is about to shift in your life, these three tips will help you along the way.

Tip #1: Know You Are Worthy

This might seem simple, but it’s one of the most powerful things we can remind ourselves of. So many people don’t fully realize the inherent worth they possess simply by being alive. When you recognize that you are worthy, you start from a place of love and possibility.

The word “believe” actually means “to be alive”—it’s two words in one: be alive. And at the core of life itself is love. This is the foundation of worth.

If you’re questioning your worth today, I encourage you to stop and reflect on this: You are a living being, and life itself is love. You are love. And because you are love, you are worthy of all the hopes, dreams, and desires that you carry—whether you’re aware of them or not.

So, take a moment to explore your worth, and know that you are deserving of all the good things life has to offer.

Tip #2: The Power of Your Voice

We’ve all been given a voice—a powerful tool we can use to command and create the life we want. Our words, both spoken and thought, hold immense power. What we speak into existence is directly connected to our belief system and the way we perceive our lives.

When you say, “I am,” you’re declaring your identity, your belief, and your purpose. It’s essential to use this power wisely.

For example, if you want to embrace positive change in your life, your affirmations might sound like:

  • “I am so happy and grateful for my energy.”
  • “I am nourished by the earth’s foods and enjoy a healthy body.”
  • “I am happy and grateful that unhealthy cravings no longer control me.”

These are affirmations that speak life into your being, guiding your energy and actions toward the future you desire.

On the flip side, we can also use our voice to speak negativity into existence. For instance:

  • “I’m so angry that the universe doesn’t care about me.”

Can you feel how different that feels? This negative command drains your energy and sets the stage for more of the same.

The key is to choose your words carefully. What comes after “I am” becomes your reality. Your voice shapes your identity.

Tip #3: Your “I Am” Statement Reflects Your Identity

Anything that comes after “I am” directly reflects your identity and your belief system. This is why it’s so important to be intentional with your words and affirmations.

The statements you make, especially those that begin with “I am,” are a reflection of your inner world. They inform the way you see yourself and your potential. If you consistently declare positivity and growth, you’ll begin to embody those qualities. But if your declarations are filled with self-doubt or negativity, that will also become your experience.

Think about it: What follows “I am” in your life? If you say, “I am stuck,” or “I am powerless,” that’s what you’ll experience. But if you choose to say, “I am confident,” “I am resilient,” or “I am worthy,” you create a new reality.

So, be mindful of your self-talk. Speak into existence the life you want to create and the person you want to be.

Putting It All Together

When you combine these three tips—recognizing your worth, speaking positively and intentionally with your voice, and creating your identity through your “I am” statements—you’ll be well on your way to living a life that feels truly aligned with who you are. Happiness comes from within, and when you understand your worth, use your voice powerfully, and create your identity, you’ll find that you are already on the path to being happy being you.

Remember, you have the power to choose who you want to be from this moment forward.
